Frank Sinatra – In the Wee Small Hours (1955)

This was the first album released by Frank Sinatra. So far everything had been singles and was Sinatra who began to popularize the format. It's an album full of melancholy and sadness for a lost love (said than Ava Gardner). Both cover disc content is considered a classic of classics and critics recognized this work as one of the most important albums in the history.
And do not be fooled into thinking that to enjoy the album takes an impossible effort to adapt, or that this music is an acquired taste, impossible for a regular listener of pop or rock or less than sixty years. This is adult music, no doubt, and which can also be found here in vast quantities: boundless emotion and delicate beauty served with much sophistication and some healthy excessive melodrama.
Only here is better made than any other album. This is the work of a giant and a genius. And although life have believed, mistakenly otherwise, says rectify is wise. This is the most important album of popular music of the twentieth century.

Elvis Presley – Elvis Presley (1956)

Elvis Presley is the debut album by Elvis Presley on RCA Records, catalog number LPM 1254, which appeared in March 1956. It was recorded in the studios of Sun Records in Memphis, where RCA Nashville studios in mid-January and the New York studios of RCA in late January. Spent ten weeks at number one on the Billboard Top Pop Albums that year.
The November 21, 1955, RCA Records purchased Elvis Presley's contract from Sun Records for the amount of $ 35,000, thanks to the RCA executive Steve Sholes. Presley and rock'n'roll had not yet been positions tested in the music business, but this album, along with number 1 that obtained the single "Heartbreak Hotel", demonstrated the power sales of both: was the first rock album to reach number one, and the first RCA pop album sales reached millions. In 2003, Rolling Stone catapulted him to 55th on its list of 500 greatest albums of all time.
Presley had made three appearances on the television show of the Dorsey brothers ("The Dorsey Brothers Stage Show" on January 28, February 4 and February 11 of that year, so that RCA wanted at that time to release an album to monetize their appearances on national television and the success of their first single on the pop charts, "Heartbreak Hotel". At the same time, Elvis had made only two recording sessions for RCA. Such two sessions totaling 11 tracks, something insufficient to to sell a full LP as some songs had potential. In the 50s, it was a general practice that songs with great commercial potential were released as singles, while the rest were engaged in complete LP's. The solution was to include five songs contained unreleased tapes Sun RCA Records had given the contract of Elvis: "I Love You Because," "Just Because," "Trying to Get to You", "I'll Never Let You Go" and "Blue Moon ". These topics were added to other seven of the sessions conducted for RCA with object of endow the album of a duration acceptable.
As Sun issues were most country style, Elvis and RCA decided to include cuts with recent songs rhythm and blues. Two of them, "Money Honey" Jesse Stone, who knew Elvis version by Clyde McPhatter, and the success of 1955 Ray Charles "I Got A Woman", took over a year touching on Elvis concerts. The third was the announcement frantic world of the existence of Little Richard in 1955, "Tutti Frutti". Also included is a rockabilly number, "Blue Suede Shoes", which came out initially as a single by Steve Sholes promise made to Sam Phillips, owner of Sun Records, to protect the career of another recording artist, Carl Perkins, the author of the song. The August 31, 1955, RCA took the unusual step of launching the entire album in singles, along with the new single from Elvis, "Shake, Rattle & Roll / Lawdy Miss Clawdy". The new single did not chart, but "Blue Suede Shoes", released as a single after Perkins's career sank due to a car accident, went to number 20 in the singles charts.
The cover is positioned at number 40 on the Rolling Stone list of the 100 best album covers. The photograph was taken in Tampa, Florida on January 31, 1955. The design was honored by The Clash on the cover of his album "London Calling" (located at number 39 on the list), other tributes include "Rain Dogs" (1985) by Tom Wait, and "Reintamation" (2006 ) of k. d. lang.
The album was released on compact disc in an edition extended the May 18, 1999, and again on January 11, 2005. For the 1999 edition, the album began with the single "Heartbreak Hotel" and its corresponding B-side, followed by the album itself, and ended with four bonus tracks taken from other singles of the era. The 2005 placed the bonus tracks at the end of the disc.
